The Low-Loss Header, also known as a Hydraulic Balancer, is designed to separate the boiler’s circulation from the heating system, suitable for medium- to high-power systems (from 25 kW and above). It is used in setups with one or multiple boilers and various heating circuits like floor heating, radiators, or hot utility water.
Functions & Benefits:
- Flow Separation: Automatically divides the flow between the boiler and heating circuits, eliminating the need for manual balancing of pump flows.
- Additional Functions: Includes a desilter and air vent, providing system cleaning and air removal.
- Protection: Prevents low-temperature corrosion of the boiler caused by low return water temperatures.
Operational Modes:
- Demand equals boiler output: System operates in balance.
- Demand less than boiler output (e.g., thermostatic valves closed): Part of the heat returns, signaling the boiler to reduce or switch off.
- Demand exceeds boiler output: Increased pump suction signals the boiler to increase heat output.
Example Equipment:
Low Loss Header SHE 4" FLANGED
- Max flow: 39 m³/h
- Max power: up to 700 kW
- Connectors: 4 x 4" flanges (DN 100 PN 16)
- Nominal pressure: 10 bar
- Max temperature: 110°C
- Capacity: 65 liters
Advantages for Investors:
- Up to 30% longer boiler service life due to protection from low return water temperature
- Increased comfort with desiltering and aeration
- Up to 30% longer pump lifespan through undisturbed operation
- Much quicker boiler response
- Up to 50% cost savings compared to 3- or 4-way valves
- No system regulation required due to automatic flow management
- Reduction in system claims caused by improper operation or air locking
Variants:
- SHE – LLH: Power range from 40 to 750 kW
- SHE-OC: Insulated with PUR foam and leatherette; powers from 40 to 115 kW (larger units up to 420 kW can be insulated with ROCKWOOL upon request)
- SHE-SP: Stainless steel with a replaceable air separator; powers from 25 to 209 kW
Summary:
The hydraulic balancer ensures a reliable, efficient, and maintenance-friendly heating system, significantly extending equipment lifespan and reducing operational issues.
