The Low-Loss Header, also known as a Hydraulic Balancer, is designed to separate the boiler’s circulation from the heating network, making it ideal for medium- to high-power systems (from 25 kW, suitable for an average house). It’s used with one or multiple boilers and supports various heating circuits such as floor heating, radiators, and hot utility water.
Key Functions and Benefits:
- Flow Separation: Automatically isolates the boiler’s flow from the heating system, eliminating the need for manual pump balancing.
- Additional Functions: Incorporates a desilter and air vent, offering system cleaning and air removal to improve operation.
- Protection: Helps prevent low-temperature corrosion by maintaining optimal return water temperatures.
Operational Modes:
- Demand equals boiler capacity: System operates normally.
- Demand less than boiler capacity (e.g., radiator thermostatic valves closed): Part of the heat returns, signaling the boiler to reduce output or switch off.
- Demand exceeds boiler capacity: Increased pump suction signals the boiler to generate more heat.
Example Equipment:
Low Loss Header SHE 4" Flanged
- Max flow: 41.5 m³/h
- Max power: 750 kW
- Connectors: 4 x 5" flanges (DN 100 PN 16)
- Nominal pressure: 10 bar
- Max temperature: 110°C
- Capacity: 65 liters
Advantages for Investors:
- Up to 30% longer boiler service life due to protection from low return water temperatures.
- Increased operational comfort with system desiltering and aeration.
- Up to 30% longer pump lifespan through continuous, undisturbed operation.
- Faster response of the boiler.
- Up to 50% cost reduction compared to using 3- or 4-way valves.
- No need for complex system regulation.
- Reduces failures caused by air locking or system inefficiencies.
Variants:
- SHE – LLH: Power from 40 to 750 kW.
- SHE-OC: Insulated with PUR foam and leatherette, powers from 40 to 115 kW (larger units up to 420 kW can be insulated with ROCKWOOL if requested).
- SHE-SP: Stainless steel with a replaceable air separator, powers from 25 to 209 kW.
Summary:
This hydraulic balancer ensures more efficient, reliable operation, reduces maintenance needs, and extends equipment lifespan—delivering significant long-term benefits for heat system performance and durability.
